AFAC16 organisers would like to acknowledge the contribution of the host agencies, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services (QPWS), who have supported the conference coordination and program development.

Working with emergency management professionals through host arrangements ensures that a comprehensive program is built addressing the needs of all emergency management practitioners. We thank QFES and QPWS for their support and look forward to working with them on AFAC16.
Under the conference theme Mitigation – Response – Recovery: Getting the balance right, the conference will be co-produced with the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC.

Emergency and disaster management has advanced dramatically over the past five years with fire and emergency service agencies worldwide implementing new and innovative ways to mitigate and respond to disasters.

Recent worldwide catastrophic events have identified the need for better recovery capability. AFAC16 will explore how agencies are getting the balance right, within new, diverse, inclusive multi agency disaster management services.
