The Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council (AFAC) and Hannover Fairs Australia, are delighted to announce a new partnership. Combining the strengths of both organisations the partnership will deliver AFAC16 under a renewed focus to embrace and support all fire and emergency agencies to achieve their goals and preserve public safety.
AFAC16 powered by INTERSCHUTZ Exhibition will attract and showcase the latest developments in emergency services equipment and technology from around the globe to the Australasian region.
Hannover Fairs Australia began operations in 2002 and is a subsidiary of Deutsche Messe, organiser of the world-leading exhibition for firefighting, fire protection and rescue: INTERSCHUTZ.
AFAC16 organisers would like to acknowledge the contribution of the host agencies, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services (QPWS), who have supported the conference coordination and program development.
Working with emergency management professionals through host arrangements ensures that a comprehensive program is built addressing the needs of all emergency management practitioners. We thank QFES and QPWS for their support and look forward to working with them on AFAC16.
Under the conference theme Mitigation – Response – Recovery: Getting the balance right, the conference will be co-produced with the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC.
Emergency and disaster management has advanced dramatically over the past five years with fire and emergency service agencies worldwide implementing new and innovative ways to mitigate and respond to disasters.
Recent worldwide catastrophic events have identified the need for better recovery capability. AFAC16 will explore how agencies are getting the balance right, within new, diverse, inclusive multi agency disaster management services.
Held over four action packed days at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, AFAC16 powered by INTERSCHUTZ will attract delegates and visitors from emergency and security services agencies, all levels of government, non-government organisations, research and education institutions from Australia and world-wide.
The conference is comprised of the Research Forum on Tuesday 30 August 2016, an immersive trade exhibition and multi-streamed two day conference on Wednesday 31 August and Thursday 1 September 2016. There will be post conference development sessions on the last day of the event, Friday 2 September 2016.
This comprehensive program of events will be complemented with social functions that enable this united industry to network with colleagues, industry peers and on occasions discover old friends. Social events include the Delegate Welcome Function Drinks, sponsored by ISUZU Trucks and the popular AFAC Gala Dinner.
